Sunny Marlowe, 43, is a journalist who has a special gift in
getting celebrities and billionaires open up to her. However, she is feeling
stuck in her job especially because she feels that what she does makes no
difference in the world. She wants to quit, but has a ‘sex, champagne, work’
relationship with her boos. Which is how she ends up with an assignment to do a
profile on Kate Doyle, beleaguered inheritor of a huge business accused of
unsafe practises and struggling against a whole bunch of CXOs against her.
Things in this book move at warp speed. The romance between
Kate and Sunny is brought in without any real build-up or even much chemistry. There
are Pretty Woman-esque dates where Kate flies Sunny to a different city
and another time to a different country for a date. But nothing about the
romance, the intrigue or the danger really draws you in.
Not really a good choice to pick up.
