Breathless by Sarah Sanders

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Short, sweet and sexy – we loved this book.

Lara is a movie star whose career has crashed and burnt. She is in the throes of self-exploring. She’s come to a quiet little Greek island, Kyse. Sonny has retired to Kyse and owns a laissez-faire place which is something of an open house and hang out joint. Lara’s upended world meets Sonny’s relaxed zen-ness and the two form a bond.

We really enjoy Sanders’ style of writing. We also enjoy that her deceptively simple romances touch upon subjects like age gap, body image and sexual hesitancy. We absolutely loved the fact that this is the first book which doesn’t diminish or disparage ambition. It is also the first book we’ve read where the laidback partner makes the change to support the ambitious one – this is refreshing because somehow we’ve always found that wanting to be successful seems to be an anathema to writers who always unfailingly extol the virtues of small town, no-pressure-no-ambition living.

There is a sweetness about the whole romance in both the MCs that makes them just so special. We loved both the MCs and the chemistry just leapt off the pages. The sex scenes are superb.

All in all, this is sooo recommended.
