Robin Alexander books are like a carefully hoarded treat
that we dip into when we feel rather deserving. Though this one was more like:
“Hey, new one; grab it.” And it so doesn’t disappoint.
Bickering with each other since third grade, Alicia Seguin
and Zoe Rivers end up being married, though still bickering. Their niece, who’s
having some issues in her relationship, comes to them. The conversations leads
to the niece asking them about how they got together and their sweet, funny and
oftentimes hilarious narrative unfolds.
Alicia and Zoe are totally adorable, the dialogues flow free
and funny, the supporting cast quirky as always, and situations implausibly
hilarious. But what truly sets Alexander’s books apart is that with all the
funny going around is that the chemistry jumps off the pages and the
relationship between the MCs draws you in.
This one is, as advertised, a novella, which makes it a
byte-sized piece but nevertheless as completely enjoyable as a full-fledged
novel.
