April Stars (A Year In Paradise Book 4) by Hildred Billings

⭐⭐

If beige can be used as a descriptor for a book, this is beige. It is not unpleasant but there is nothing to it. Time well spent? Umm, No. Time wasted? Not totally.

Fleur Rosé is a TV celebrity who has her entire, image and time carefully managed and controlled by her manager and PR firm. Fleur goes rogue, hops into a car and drives away. When her manager, Carmen finds her, Fleur protests that she could’ve been meeting a secret love and kisses the first person around, who just happens to be her crazy fan, Jalen, who by trade is a plumber. The paparazzi get an eyeful of the kiss and as a damage control measure, it is decided that Fleur and Jalen will have to have a brief fake relationship.

Nothing in the book is really fleshed out or involving. The only character who has a sliver of personality is Fleur and that makes her more likeable than anyone else. The secondary characters are more irritating than anything else. Jalen is quite meh.

You can do better with your time, but if it’s something quick and short you want, this can be a maybe.
