The romcom specialist delivers a gallopingly entertaining
bit of full with this one.
Robyn Vincent has an okay life and an okay job
selling insurance. What is not so okay in her life is her not-quite-girlfriend
who has insidiously shifted in with her before Robyn knew what was happening. So
she bakes for stress relief. While making a batch of macaroons, she hits on a
hare-brained scheme of entering Bake It! to
avoid said girlfriend. Jodie Jacobs has created an emotionally cold
persona of herself allowing only her brother in. Before he passed away, her
father taught her to bake, so that is her skill and her profession. When she is
in danger of losing her ancestral home, she decides to enter Bake It! to get enough traction and
launch her own shop. her aim is to make it to week five – though winning the
grand prize of twenty thousand pounds wouldn’t exactly hurt either. Robyn, the
people-pleaser and Jodie the people-freezer are thrown together for the show
which seems to have a strange number of disaster occurring.
Suspend disbelief and enjoy the sparks, the chemistry and the
completely impossible sabotages by the ‘villain’ of the show and just enjoy
this unpretentious entertainer which is great fun.
