Painted Over by Sofi Keren

⭐⭐⭐

Friends to lovers and second chances told in a sweet, simple way.

Artist Paige is on an upward trajectory in her professional life but her love life is kind of lame. Unexpectedly, her old BFF footballer Ria, re-enters her life. The two of them were inseparable till a huge crack appeared between them after the first time they slept together. It’s been over a decade since then and both have gone on to create their own lives. After meeting again, bridges tart getting built and the friendship is hesitantly rekindled.

We just couldn’t like Ria for having ghosted Paige all those years back. Even if her reason were altruistic, her unilateral decision was unacceptable. But the two MCs and their relationship deeply rooted in a long friendship is rather sweet. Another rather jarring point was this felt like the MCs were much younger than their thirty odd years. They felt like they were in their twenties.

This is a simple and rather simplistic story for a quick angst-free read.
