This is the ultimate fantasy of anyone who has ever been
dumped.
Maddie Kind and Justine Thomas dated for almost four years
during their university days and one fine day, Maddie just upped and left
without explanations. Justine is left heartbroken but scraped herself together and
went on with her life. Ten years thence, they come face-to-face at the funeral
of a common friend from their university days. Justine is angry and wry, while
Maddie seems to be reaching out to her in every way possible.
Maddie and Justine are both lovely characters and you
actually can feel both their emotions. Their behaviours are understandable and justifiable.
And you’re really, really rooting for them. The heat between them is literally
palpable, which is always a big plus.
Truly, this is exactly what anybody who has ever been dumped
fantasises about. For the person who’d left them to come back. To apologise. To
be stunning to look at. To want them again. To make amends. To make everything
alright. And Ms. Lydon has a very engaging style of writing. So this one is a
win all around.
