Beers
is one of the most popular lesfic authors, but somehow, one or the other of her
characters fall short. Her books hold, but don’t always completely satisfy. Dare
to Stay is one of her more fun romances.
Jessica
Barstow inherited Junebug Farms, an animal shelter in upstate New York, from
her beloved grandmother. Jessica once had dreams of moving elsewhere, but the
shelter wound its way around her heart and became the most important thing to
her.
Gorgeous
Sydney Taylor is a TV reporter on the rise. She dreams of getting into an
important channel in a big city. Her job, covering human interest stories, in
this tiny city is just a stop in her bigger journey.
Sydney
is assigned the annual fundraiser for Junebug Farms and finds herself
irresistibly drawn to Jessica. The attraction is mutual and demands action.
Sydney
is an utterly loveable character. It is difficult not to fall a little bit in
love with her. She is honest and open. Jessica, while nice, does not draw use
towards herself like Sydney does. We were more than a little disappointed with
the characterisation of Anna, whose only fault seems to be that she really
wants love in her life. Though she was supposed to be something of a borderline
negative character, we found her rather tragic.
This
is a good enough read – especially for Sydney.
