When the first brush with your true self comes too late but
then life works out to prove that it is never really too late.
Broke, pregnant and stranded in Atlanta by a cancelled fight
while returning from a bad meeting with her parents, Carly’s life in that
moment is in shambles. Scheduled for the same flight, Jamie is on her last
hurrah of being responsibility-free before she goes back to start life in earnest
as a chiropractor. Out and proud Jamie convinces Carly to make the best of this
time. Jamie’s adventurous enthusiasm takes the two girls to a Melissa Etheridge
concert, a gay club and finally into bed. Carly leaves a sleeping Alex the next
morning to go to her life of getting married and bringing up baby.
Twenty years later, Carly is now Carla Grant. She’s just
sent away her daughter to college and is on the verge of amicably separating
from her husband and looking for a new job. Dr. Jamie Hammond is a
successful chiropractor currently caught in a professional mess caused by an
office manager who committed an insurance fraud implicating Jamie and trapped
in a sorryass personal relationship. Carla becomes Jamie’s new office manager.
This book is really well written. The characters and their
lives fully described. Angsty and exploratory, layered characters, multiple
plot lines all of which flows naturally and smoothly and very, very likeable
MCs.
Definitely recommended.
