Leah has two best friends. Her current
roommate, Kinsley Scott and her childhood best friend, Grace Harper. Kinsley Hannah
Montana’s as Laurel Lake an author of lesbian romances. However, Kinsley scoffs
at the concept of love, is the queen of one-night stands and believes in having
a lot of sex frequently. Grace is a die-hard romantic, whose girlfriend cheated
her and then dumped her is in emotional pits. When Grace comes to Leah’s for a
weekend to gather herself together, she discovers that she and Kinsley are more
at odds and opposites than having anything in common.
For more than half the book, Kinsley is
just plain rude and nasty to a perfectly pleasant Grace who is even trying to
be nice to Kinsley. We are getting concerned with the number of romances and
romcoms in lesfic that are normalising nastiness and creating a myth that
libido is enough reason for a relationship. Even after Kinsley is supposed to
have mellowed down, her rudeness doesn’t diminish and Grace’s niceness (overall
and especially to Kinsley) keeps growing.
We seriously DO NOT like purported
romances in which one of the MCs is a jerk.
So, a big no for this one. Not nice.
Not romantic. Just NO!
