Class president, head cheerleader, town
sweetheart, popular Ashley Gaines has a huge secret which she has kept for fifteen years. She is gay
and not willing to come out because she is way too bothered by others’ opinions,
so she pretends to be straight, though she doesn’t date anyone at all. Pansexual
Sasha Peterson, a couple of years junior and had quite a crush on Ashley
in high school. All grown up now, Ashley is the town florist and Sasha owns a
bakery. They have common friends and hang out every Saturday. Life runs on an
even keel, until the day Ashley accidentally outs herself to Sasha. Slowly,
Ashley starts opening up to Sasha and their chemistry grows.
This is a slow, long burn romance. The focus is mostly on
Ashley and her struggles. It would’ve been nice to see the Ashley of her entrance
scene too – the confident head cheerleader whom the town loves instead of only
the tortured, troubles, timid one. It would also have been nice to have one
scene where Sasha confesses her long-time crush. Wishes…wishes.
The pacing of the book is excellent, the connection
believable and the chemistry excellent. The sex is hot. Both the MCs are so
likeable and their slowly developing and growing relationship completely
engrossing.
You cannot go wrong with choosing this one.
