Heather Blackmore is one of the finest writers when it comes
to character description and development. Her characters are well etched out,
their trajectory and growth brilliantly detailed and they are completely understandable.
Even when she writes seemingly fantastical people and pairings, the way she
writes them makes it all plausible. The relationships and interactions between
the leads of her books are just so sensitive and beautiful that they set really
high relationship-goals and expectations in readers. With her finance
background, her settings are also extremely detailed and real. Don’t miss any
of her books, for sure – even though they are not sex heavy. The emotional
quotient and the couple of sex scenes she throws in are highly, highly satisfying
for any romance reader/seeker.
In this one, we have Jessica Spaulding, an heiress, working
in her father’s multi-billion-dollar investment firm as the one-person
marketing department. TJ Blake is an intern, from the other side of the tracks,
thrust upon her.
Jessica hides a brilliant brain and an enviable work ethic
behind a façade of facetiousness to hold on to her life of wealth and privilege.
TJ uncovers this while being drawn into the beautiful person that Jessica is.
Despite the huge difference in their circumstances and
finances, Blackmore writes the draw towards each other in such a way that they
both are equals at all times. There is no wondering as to how this connection
can even be possible.
By the end of the book, bet you, you’ll also be a little in
love with Jessica.
