Winds of Heaven (Winds of Heaven #1) by Kate Sweeney

⭐⭐☆

A brazen romcom with an impossible premise which achieves its goal of being a simple, fun read.

Casey Bennet is a single swinger and perfectly happy with her life as is. An unexpected letter from a former lover, Julie, upends her world. Julie is no more, but has left a letter for Casey with her lawyer begging Casey to help and support her pregnant partner, Liz Kennedy, and three-year old daughter, Skye.

So okay, the premise is super-far-fetched but that is typical of this author. Also, the whole slipping into romance happens without any build-up of their relationship. It is almost like they have met, don’t particularly like each other and bam! in the next scene they have all these feelings about the other. Despite all that, we liked Liz and Skye enough to actually enjoy at least parts of the book.

Would we recommend this as first choice for a fun read? Definitely not. But for a mindless, pain-free idle time, sure.
