Going Down By Barbara Bell

⭐⭐⭐☆

This is a short novella and entirely well done. Despite the limited number of words, the book has all elements of a full-length novel: angst, resolution, sex scenes plus a little bit of getting to know the MCs.

Ellie and her boss Casey had a one-off stand in a Christmas party. However, after that, Ellie has been keeping her distance and even blown off Casey’s overtures of friendship. One evening, they are trapped in an elevator (one of the most popular tropes and perhaps fantasies also). Their chemistry reasserts itself and this time, Ellie doesn’t let it end with awkwardness.

A one-sitting ‘quickie’ read which is quite good. However, if you’re in the mood for more sex scenes and more fun characters within a novella, definitely go for Ab Kaāl’s Payback’s a Bitch and Everything Has Changed.
