Melissa Brayden is a fail-safe lesbian romance choice. Given
how much we like her books we were unsure about listening to one because a bad narrator can really spoil the book. However,
Melissa Sternenberg, the voice artiste does a great job with
this one and even manages to add some layers with her work.
Isabel Chase dreams of writing scripts that will be
filmed but is stuck in dead-end jobs, though she has snagged awards in the
past. She lives with her bad-tempered cat, Fat Tony and has just been fired
from her last job. While she is seething about it, a friend, Celeste, who works
on a popular show calls her and drops an interview for Isabel’s dream job in
her lap. Taylor Andrews is the producer of the show and has reached
dizzying heights of success at a young age. Isabel lands the job with Taylor
despite some fangirling and a spilt coffee.
The rest of the story unfolds with Brayden-esque humour,
chemistry and sweetness. Since this is the first of a series, multiple other
characters are introduced creating a whole cast of lovely characters and
connections.
Definitely recommended – read or listen – this one works
either ways.
