This is the written version of an ongoing drama series on
TV. If you come in with this book, you have got on-board at Season 12. You can
follow the story without trouble but you’ve missed out on the character
introductions and their dynamics.
Candace Reid is the President of the United States. Her
wife, Jameson, son Cooper and mother, pearl, have also shifted to the White
House with Candace. This one follows the struggles of finding a work-life
balance for the newly elected President and for her family (particularly her
wife) who don’t want to add to any stress for Candace and try to shield her
from their personal worries and issues. It is also heavily political with world
politics and intrigues. The political part, which can actually be called
speculative fiction at this point in time, is remarkably plotted -- both, the world politics that Candace is dealing with and the domestic activism that Jameson is getting into.
The relationship between Candace and Jameson is an
absolutely ideal partnership. In fact, the relationship between all the family
members is in the ideal zone. Since this is an ongoing series, it is not really
concluded in the end but left open for the next book. The political focus of
this book promises more of the same in the next one.
This is really for those following the series. Those
interested in political intrigues will also enjoy it because the politics
aspect of it is rather heavily focussed on.
