We love age-gap romances. We are also rather fond of delving
into darker spaces of celebrity. Despite having both these elements, this one
didn’t quite grab us because the MCs just didn’t jell together.
Riley, a fairly successful actress, is approaching thirty and
wants to make a career change. She had come to Hollywood to become a
scriptwriter but ended up being an actress. A successful actress. She wants to
write her first script from a book by Laura Foley, so she goes searching for
the author.
For a celebrity, Riley’s character just didn’t have
dynamism. Lura kept dithering for no real reason. Somehow the chemistry didn’t
catch and the writing felt like a flattish narration. This book had
possibilities but they were all squandered.
We loved the premise and loved the cover, so were
predisposed to enjoying the book. But truly didn’t – and just cannot recommend
it.
