The Gravity Between Us By Kristen Zimmer

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is amongst the best friends-to-lovers / celebrity-commoner books in the lesfic genre. It is engaging, both the main characters are immensely likeable and their story keeps us deeply invested.

Nineteen year old Kendall Bettencourt is the next big thing in Hollywood. Her best friend is Payton Taylor, who is like her security blanket. Kendell makes frequent visits back to her hometown just to meet Payton. During one such visit, Payton comes out to Kendell. Slowly the equation changes from just friendship to more.

We love the way the author has taken the time to build the entire change in the feelings both the girls have for each other. They both struggle against the attraction lest it harm their friendship. Payton knows that she is in love with Kendell, but Kendell’s realisation of her feelings for Payton are exquisitely described. The building burn between them has us turning the pages faster to see how they will get together. After they get together, there is the whole huge issue of whether Kendell can come out. Much as she wants to, her whole career is at stake.

The girls, particularly Kendell, are totally loveable. Their relationship at every stage is charming and funny. Kendell’s struggles and the final OTT romantic declaration are the stuff romance books should always be about.

This is an absolute must-read.
